Wellness Is More Than Green Juice

In a world full of green juices, boutique fitness classes, and the next big wellness trend, it’s easy to overlook the quieter, deeper ways we care for ourselves. For me, wellness has become something more layered than what I eat or how often I move. It’s a daily practice—one that invites me to check in with my body, care for my mind, and stay connected to what nurtures my spirit. Here’s how I started embracing a more holistic approach to wellness—and how you can explore your own path too.

1. Physical Wellness: Listening Inward

Movement is still a big part of my life, but I’ve learned that physical wellness also includes:

  • Adequate rest
  • Hydration
  • Nourishing meals
  • Tuning into my body’s needs

After years of dancing and teaching high-intensity classes, I’ve had my share of burnout. Now, recovery and rest are just as important to me as activity.

2. Mental & Emotional Wellness: Creating Space

Mental wellness isn’t about being positive all the time—it’s about having the tools to check in and care for yourself emotionally.

This might look like:

  • Journaling
  • Breathwork or meditation
  • Talking to someone you trust
  • Giving yourself permission to feel things fully

For me, emotional wellness means meeting myself with honesty, care, accountability, and grace.

3. Spiritual Hygiene: Nurturing Inner Peace

Spiritual wellness is personal. Whether it’s time in nature, prayer, creative expression, or stillness, connecting with something deeper has helped me feel grounded.

A few simple practices I love:

  • Gratitude journaling in the morning for 3-5 minutes.
  • Setting intentions for the day
  • Quiet walks or mindful pauses

Gentle Ways to Explore Holistic Wellness:

  • Start your day with a gratitude list and an intention
  • Add joyful movement—dancing, stretching, or a walk
  • Pause for a few deep breaths when life feels loud
  • Do something that fills your cup (without guilt!)
  • Let your wellness evolve as you do

Wellness doesn’t need to be a performance. There’s no one “right” way to care for yourself. The most important thing is tuning in and doing what feels kind, supportive, and true to you. Take your time, trust yourself, and let your wellness journey be yours and nobody else’s.
